“So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’”
As most Spirit-led moments go, one prompting leads to another, leads to another. Philip in the previous verse was only told to get to the chariot, but he didn’t know what he ought to do after he would obey. Like the rest of us, the sovereign, perfect plan of God was unknown to Philip, yet he didn’t let that hinder him in his obedience. As he obeyed, the next action became obvious to him and he quickly rolled in to what he should do.
A renowned phrase here at the ranch is that “Where God guides, He provides.” This is not only true in the sense of money and resources, but it’s also true in the sense about our next steps in obedience. Philip didn’t know why he should’ve run to the chariot, but once he obeyed he knew what he was to do, which was to evangelize the eunuch.
Application: Even though I might not understand why the Holy Spirit is prompting me to do something weird, I can be confident that God will continue to be with me and guide me to glorify His name and lead me in the way everlasting.
